About the main exhibits at the Panasonic booth
Approximately 45% of the total area of the booth will be used to introduce Panasonic Go concepts and business case studies. Panasonic Well, a new venture and business incubator within the Panasonic Group committed to building new services and technologies that improve well-being for all people, introduced the latest consumer offering from the Panasonic Well portfolio with a sneak peek of Umi, available in the U.S. in 2025. The innovative digital wellness platform and personalized family wellness coach that integrates AI and a community of experts, Umi helps people build healthy habits and connect through wellness routines that work for everyone. The booth experience includes a detailed look at the family insights that led to the product, a deeper look into the product experience, and an interactive kiosk that allowed attendees to interact with the virtual coach through the power of AI. The booth experience also provided a showcase of Panasonic Well’s Partner Collective, bringing together leading brands across technology, and research to leverage the strength of the Panasonic Well data and AI platform. 2. Efforts to contribute to the enrichment of people’s lives and solutions to global environmental problems
To achieve the Panasonic Group’s goal of realizing an ideal society offering material and spiritual affluence, the most pressing issue is to solve global environmental problems. The Panasonic Group set forth its long-term environmental vision “Panasonic GREEN IMPACT,” in 2022 and is engaged in a variety of activities to expand its impact toward achieving carbon neutrality and a circular economy in order to balance a better life with a sustainable global environment. Here we introduce solutions and home appliances that contribute to a better life, and technologies that help solve global environmental issues.
2-1. LIVE WELL: OASYS
Introducing the next generation of residential solutions for comfortable, healthy, economical, sustainable, and secure living, which are scheduled to be rolled out in the United States. For the first time in the U.S.*3, a residential central air conditioning system that air conditions and ventilates the entire house using a combination of existing products: Mini Split AC, Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV)*4, and transfer fans using DC motor ventilation fans is now available. The system can reduce energy consumption for heating and air conditioning over 50% compared to conventional systems in the U.S.,*5 and also provides a healthy and comfortable space with large volumes of air, small temperature differences, air purification technology, and whisper-quiet operation. In the future, a house powered by 100% renewable energy could be made viable by combining a high-efficiency water heater and home energy management based on lifestyle information. 2-2. Exhibit: Carbon Neutral
Solutions and technologies that contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions, expanding the impact of carbon neutrality from the home to the city and society as a whole, will be exhibited, including:
Updating Hussmann’s refrigerated and frozen display cases: By using the natural refrigerant R290 refrigerant-grade propane, the environmental impact is greatly reduced compared to the CFC refrigerant alternatives currently in use.
Electrifying Panasonic HX, an energy solution utilizing hydrogen, uses an advanced energy management system to control the coordination of pure hydrogen fuel cells, solar cells, and storage batteries to efficiently supply renewable energy in response to changes in electricity demand and weather conditions. The system is designed to decarbonize the energy sector and increase resilience through a decentralized system. The Panasonic Group has also supplied a cumulative total of more than 15 billion automotive battery cells, equivalent to the supply needed for 3 million EVs, to support the global shift to EVs. To further accelerate the shift to EVs, the Panasonic 2170 cell with the world’s highest energy density and the latest Panasonic 4680 cell will be exhibited, as well as the company’s activities to reduce its carbon footprint in collaboration with Redwood Materials, Inc. and Nouveau Monde Graphite, Inc. to achieve a sustainable society.
Harnessing Anion exchange membrane water electrolysis for producing green hydrogen: This is an electrode device that enables highly efficient and low-cost hydrogen production using electricity derived from renewable energy sources. The device will be exhibited with an developed anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrode made of iron and nickel without using precious metals on display. Also on display will be the growth stimulant “Novitek®,” a technology that simultaneously achieves effective utilization of CO2 and increases food productivity with the power of cyanobacteria, a type of photosynthetic microorganism. By spraying the leaves of vegetables and fruits with Novitek®, it leads to an increase in yield. Perovskite solar cells will also be on display. These combine a unique material technology, ink-jet coating process and laser processing technology, creating glass-based perovskite solar cells (1 m x 1.8 m size) with enhanced size, transparency, and design flexibility.
2-3. Exhibit: Circular Economy
The Panasonic Group is committed to the Circular Economy (CE) under the three principles of “Maximize, Minimize, and Partner.” Here, the group introduces efforts to efficiently use resources and reduce consumption of the earth’s limited natural resources, among other initiatives.
Maximizing – Maximize product value The Panasonic Group is committed to extending the useful life of its products as much as possible and to maintaining and enhancing the value of resources. To this end, we are transforming our product design and business model into a circular economy model, and expanding our services, while at the same time focusing on recycling activities. A video overview of “Design for CE,” a new manufacturing concept and design philosophy for repairing, reusing, and recycling, will be shown on a tablet device at the Panasonic CES booth, as well as through a video display and a mock-up. Additionally, the technology behind easy disassembly design, which forms the basis of this concept, will also be introduced.
Minimizing – Reduce and minimize new resource use The Panasonic Group is working to minimize the use of materials and to increase the use of recycled and renewable materials. Here, we introduce the following products that use recycled and bioplastics: – Technics EAH-AZ80 fully wireless earphones – Approximately 45% of the plastic used in the earphones and charging case is DURABIO™, a bioengineering plastic derived from plants. – Ramdash Palm Inn ES-PV6A – Uses NAGORI®, an innovative composite material derived from minerals extracted from seawater, to reduce plastic use by approximately 40% (compared to Ramdash PRO 5-blade ES-LV9W released in 2023) Also on display will be a reference exhibit of lighting that utilizes lampshades made of kinari™, a sustainable material that is basically made of plant fibers but has the moldability of conventional petroleum-based resin.
Partnering – Collaborate with customers and partners The Panasonic Group is working together with customers and partners to create a new style of recycling-oriented management, information sharing, and product use. Here we present “Tracephere,” an idea for traceability using blockchain technology for product recycling and recycled resource processes.
